Deal or No Deal?

You know that person...who you're not so crazy about? who... is not really in your life anymore but still just frustrates you or annoys you to think about? who... you have a problem with or who has a problem with you? If any of this even sounds vaguely familiar, just go with me here. Why is there still a problem? It seems like we tend to ignore a lot of our problems and issues with people until all of our feelings start bubbling over, and we finally explode on someone. Oops. Luckily, there's a solution.

Deal with your problems. Sometimes the worst thing you can do is just nothing - letting the problem sit there and build, whether you know it is or not. Your issues don't go away because you forget about them. They may seem gone for awhile, but somehow they'll show up again. Bitterness and pain don't do well being held inside. It may be scary or frustrating or difficult, but you have to confront your problems and the person(s) involved. And I don't mean whip out your lightsabers and duel it out. But you can't ignore an elephant in the room -- that elephant might start out as a baby, but it'll grow into a giant momma elephant, and you're going to have to acknowledge that thing at some point!

Well, you get what I'm saying, right? Don't run away from your problems. And don't let them sit there in the closet and become a skeleton, either. Confront that person(s) you might already be thinking of. And then forgive. Forgive and love. Is it hard? You betcha. But here's some encouragement: Growth comes from actually enduring pain and suffering and those difficult times. So don't cheat yourself out of the process.

7 Things...Every Girl Should Have in Her Purse

In no particular order...Here's a just few must-have items for every girl's purse!

1. Gum/Mints
You never know when your breath might need a pick-me-up. I'm not a fan of the super strong minty taste, so my fav is: ORBIT's Maui Melon Mint.

2. Pills To Go

I love the compact size of this ADVIL Pocket Pack container. This has saved me and many others from those random, spontaneous headaches! And even though it doesn't hold that many pills, they're easily refillable. I also have random allergy problems, so I usually throw some Benadryll in there, too. A must for every girl's purse!

3. Lip Balm

Whether it's balm or chap stick or gloss -- gotta keep those lips hydrated! My fav: BURT's BEES Beeswax Lip Balm. It seriously moisturizes and leaves you with a minty coolness. A little tip: I like to use this before applying a lipstick (which, otherwise, tends to dry out my lips).

4. Antibacterial/Moisturizing Hand Lotion
It's important to keep your hands both clean and moisturized. BATH & BODY WORKS' HandiBac Moisturizing Hand Lotion in Sweet Pea gets both jobs done! It softens and soothes and kills germs at the same time -- plus, it smells great!

5. Compact Mirror

Just for those quick check-ups. Or when you need to get that broccoli out of your teeth. And if your powder or blush case has a built-in mirror, that's even better!

6. Detergent Pen

Look how cute these TIDE To Go Minis are! These pens have saved me so many times, and with this even more compact new design, they are definitely a must for every girl's purse!

7. Perfume

It's always nice to smell good on-the-go, so find a travel size of your favorite scent for your purse. Here's one of my favs: AMERICAN EAGLE's Bohemian for her.

Spontaneous Love

Just a funny little joke from one of my favorite TV shows, The Big Bang Theory -- a show that always gives me laughs.

"So this physicist goes into an ice cream parlour every week and orders an ice cream sundae for himself, and then offers one to the empty stool sitting next to him. This goes on for a while until the owner finally asks him what he’s doing. Uncool is the New Cool

Reruns of Veronica Mars (featured above) have got me thinking.

Someone please tell me why it's so cool to be "cool". You'd think the high school/college cool groups would have died out by now, right? I mean, TV makes fun of them enough. But no, there is still the "cool" -- at least, the people who think they're cool -- and the "uncool".

What exactly makes you cool, though? Is it the underage drinking and partying? Some people seem to think so. I don't see the appeal. Is it that it makes you seem mature? Look at me, all cool and mature, getting wasted...And acting stupid...and acting immature...?

Just be yourself. I'd say that's the number one. It's never cool pretending to be something you're not. That will only attract the wrong kind of people. And even though it sounds cliche, hanging with the wrong crowd really does have a negative effect. Surround yourself with people who actually like you for you and can be a positive influence in your life. It's important to have at least one person who will call you out on it when you're acting up -- my BFF does an awesome job at that.

Don't feel like giving in to peer pressure and wasting your time to fit in with the cool kids? Embrace being part of the uncool - that's the real "cool".
